Naming itself after the legendary 1960’s Formula One driver Jochen Rindt, Rindt Vehicle Design restore and reimagine Classic Porsches. With a motto of ‘Making Perfect’, Rindt have set their sights on becoming one of the country’s leading Porsche restomodders. Based in a huge 19th Century stable house in the middle of the rolling Berkshire countryside, their latest creation is the Rindt 911R Sport Classic. Originally a Porsche 997 3.6, the car is an evocation of Porsche’s spectacular 2010 911 Sports Classic. The 911R Sport Classic’s specification makes impressive reading. The engine has undergone a full no-expenses spared rebuild, with £12,000 worth of new pistons and liners alone. Rindt have restyled the front and rear bumpers; with a sprinkling of GT3 design DNA. A duck tail rear spoiler and full bare metal respray in ice white, shadow silver with orange detail lines and matching orange brake calipers give the car an understated menace.
Rindt’s technicians have upgraded all the exterior lights to custom LED’s, added a sleek high level brake light and a custom branded exhaust (with improved exhaust tone by the addition of a steel bypass). Custom front and rear splitters, 19” original Fuchs Alloys and Pirelli P-Zero tyres complete the look.
Inside, the front seats have been meticulously reupholstered in classic black & white houndstooth, the seat backs have been resprayed to match the body colour with orange shadow line detailing. Classic kick plates have been fitted in shadow silver along with a custom racing steering wheel, electric heated memory seats with lumber bolsters. A Bose sound system, Sat Nav PCM2, Sports Chrono Pack, electric sunroof, a Tiptronic gearbox with PSM and Sports Mode and cruise control bespoke this car to another level.
How does it drive like? In short, superbly. Make no mistake; Rindt’s 911R Sport Classic is a one-off dream car, that melds the best of Porsche past and present. The Germans have a word for the pleasure of experiencing perfection- ‘ebenmaßigkeitsentzuckung’. If the word were pronounceable, that’s exactly what this delivers by the bucket (seat) full.
